BLOG: True to Your Word – Gaining The Inside Advantage

Are you true to your word? Do you say what you mean and mean what you say? Do you tell people what you’re going to do and actually do it?

Some of us say things and on occasion, we mess up and forget, or neglect for some valid reason, to follow through. And, when we do, we feel bad, we try to make it right (better late than never), and vow to do better in the future. I will admit to this—I’m not perfect, but I believe that it is one of the most important things we can do to lead a successful life (to gain The Inside Advantage):

BE TRUE TO OUR WORD.

Some people say things (I’ll do this for you, I’ll give this to you, I’ll help you, I’ll meet you…), possibly because it sounds good in the moment (and we do want people to like us, right?), but they will never follow through and actually do it; they know deep inside that they will let you down, and that’s exactly what happens.

So, if you say you’re going to do something, if you say you’re going to be somewhere, for goodness sake, please:

DO IT! BE THERE!

Take responsibility for your behavior, admit shortcomings and make amends, vow to do better in the future, and then do it; it’s as simple as that.

When I see people repeat this behavior over and over again, it’s frustrating for those of us who wait and hope for something to happen that never will, or for someone to show up when they said they would, and they don’t.  It’s really a form of self-sabotage, and that just makes me sad for them. I pray for them and send love & light to their soul, and I am reminded how NOT to be unkind to others, to be MORE of the kind of person I want to be, and for that I am grateful.

Be the best you can be–just like the Orange Sunflower. See how beautiful it is on my website blog at CWLauro.com

Thank you for joining me on this spiritual journey.

Blessings, Love & Light,

Cathy
