Think back for a moment: What do you wish you had done and didn’t, and now it’s too late? There are probably many answers to this question, depending upon what comes to mind.
As I write these words, I am holding this day in reverence, remembering my father’s day of passing two years ago.
Am I sad? Yes, because I miss him so much. Am I happy? Yes, because we shared a great bond and so much love. I have my memories to make me smile.
My mother is still with us, fragile and yet strong, doing her best to live fully in the time she has left, filling her days with as much joy as she can create for herself and her family. She still drives, shops, cooks, and loves to plant flowers. She makes little gifts and cards, and spends days decorating the brown paper on packages shipped to loved ones.
I talk to her on the phone every day and we always seem to wind up laughing; her sense of humor is one of the things I’ll remember most about her when she’s gone. It makes me cry now to think of one day not being able to hear her voice with my ears; I’ll always hear her inside my head and feel her love inside my heart.
Last week I told her, as my father told me the day before he passed, “You have done a very good job of loving me.” I let her know how much I appreciate all of the support and encouragement she’s given me over the years. I also needed to say: “Know that I will miss you so very much when you’re gone.”
We close our daily conversations with the words: “Good night, pleasant dreams, see you in the blue.” (The blue refers to the blue morning sky.) These are words we shared as a family for as long as I can remember, and I’m grateful I can still share with her what’s on my mind and in my heart.
I hope you will speak your words of love BEFORE IT’S TOO LATEA.
As always, I invite you to visit my website at CWLauro.com to learn more about me and some of the things I’ve created especially for YOU.
By the way, this week marks one year since I started blogging. It’s been a great experience for me in expressing what’s inside; I hope you find something of value here, especially when you listen to the words between the lines, when your own inner voice softly whispers to you.
Thank you for joining me on this spiritual journey.
Blessings, Love & Light,
