Sweet, sweet surrender. Live, live without care, like a fish in the water, like a bird in the air. Sweet, sweet surrender…words of a John Denver song help to remind us to let go of our concerns, sadness, anger, and fear.
During a particularly stressful time, when thoughts and emotions flooded my mind and heart, I found myself singing these words over and over again. In doing so I was able to let go of fear, sadness, and anger, and focus only on the words and their meaning; I felt better.
May these words help lift you up. If you don’t know the tune, listen to John Denver singing it and you won’t forget. And even if you mess the words up, which I have done, and say “…like a bird in the water and a fish in the air,” just laugh at the silliness and keep singing!
You are the only one who can lift yourself up. It’s up to you to choose to experience the moments in your life the way you’d like. Think about the lyrics in Natasha Bedingfield’s song “Unwritten” – “…feel the rain on your skin, only you can let it in…”
