Weekly BLOG: What Was So Nice About Nice, France?

French Riviera

French Riviera

If I ever go back to France, Nice is where I want to be! It’s an absolutely beautiful city on the Mediterranean Sea with steep rocky hills in the background.

It was so exciting as I caught my first glimpse of the crystal clear blues of the sea splashing against the rounded gray rocks and pebbles which make up the beach. Years ago I remember seeing the same sea for the very first time while on a train from Rome to Naples; I couldn’t believe the indescribable blues! I stepped with both feet into the cold water and jumped back quickly; there, I did it—no need to go for a swim.

In Nice I sat for over an hour just looking at the water, breathing in the refreshing negative ions (these are the good ones—then why aren’t they called positive, right?)

I discovered the best fresh outdoor market I’ve ever been to! The temperature was in the low 70’s, and with the cool breeze I could smell so many different aromas and fragrances as I walked along in the sun, taking it all in, smiling, and knowing how often I would think of this place. Flowers of every kind and color asked for their photos to be taken, soaps with lavender said “Buy me!” and I did, olives, cheeses, dried meats, spices vied for my attention…

Outdoor statues, fountains, a carousel, narrow cobblestone streets…so much history and culture, such a  romantic place! Strolling through misting plazas and flowering gardens, along the seaside promenade, dancing at the hotel rooftop lounge at night—looking down on everything lit up with multi-colors. It was amazing and unforgettable! I felt amazingly happy! I have The Inside Advantage!
