BLOG: Chance Meeting?

Florida Sunrise

Florida Sunrise

Do we meet people by chance, or is there some unseen hand guiding us?

Last week I felt that angels, spirits, or God put me and my husband in the right place at the right time.

We were visiting a Florida community to check it out to see if it might be a place where we would want to live. On our van tour we met a couple from another state who were looking for a place in Florida to call home.

I felt compelled to hand them my phone number and make the gesture to call me later. We talked and when we heard them say that although this place was where they thought they would buy a house, they did not feel like it was meant to be their home, I suggested they check out our community which was farther south.

I felt like I had known her all my life – an instant connection, which I believe was divinely orchestrated. We spent hours talking and sharing, enjoying our conversations as if we were old friends.

They decided that they would come back to Florida another time to see what our community offered. When they were back at home they looked at houses for sale online and asked us if we could visit some of them on their behalf. We did and reported back to them. He flew in a couple of days later, loved our area and all it has to offer; he made an offer on one of the houses!

I hope this works out for all of us. I know they will be very happy here, and we will have some new best friends. Was this a chance meeting? I don’t believe that for a minute. Someone was watching and guiding from above. Don’t you just love it when that happens? Believing in things like this is what I describe as having The Inside Advantage.

I invite you to look around on my website CWLauro.com to see what might brighten your day.

Thank you for joining me on this spiritual journey.

BLOG: Miracles of Creation: Flowers in my garden and Monet’s

Monet's Garden outside Paris

Monet’s Garden outside Paris

Flowers have always played a special role in my life—I love how they look, how some smell so sweet, the colors, and even the idea of flowers is magical–at first there is nothing, then a bud appears with so much potential for beauty and joy, and as if by some unseen hand of grace, a miracle happens and we see the most incredible, spectacular creation!

Whenever we feel sad or depressed, and need our spirits uplifted, we can go outside and look for these miraculous creations—they’re out there simply waiting for us to show up to acknowledge their existence.

Today I went into my garden twice just to smell the honeysuckle. Not only is just a vine with flowers, but this particular vine grew from a 5” piece (with flowers) that my love plucked from a plant growing wild in the woods over 15 years ago—a little token of his affection. So when I see this plant, not only do I enjoy the present moment, I also enjoy the happy memory. It’s what I call having The Inside Advantage — living deeply, joyfully, and successfully.

Although life can bring us sorrow, it’s up to us to choose to focus like a laser on the good things. We always have a choice on what we think about—what we allow in our minds and hearts.

See more photos on my website blog; while there, I invite you to look around CWLauro.com to see what might be of help to you.

Thank you for joining me on this life journey. See you next time…

BLOG: Being Grateful

sunrise

Each New Day is Something to Celebrate!

Hope you had a memorable Thanksgiving and that you truly felt grateful for whatever blessings you have. It’s better to count our blessings rather than our problems, right?

Life is easier when we try not to compare ourselves and how we celebrate holidays, with others and how they celebrate. We may have traditions that we continue to follow all our lives, or not. How we celebrate doesn’t really matter; it’s the act of celebrating life that’s important, and we don’t need to wait for one day on the calendar.

I remember my first Thanksgiving being married; we had just moved to another city and for the first time, were not with our families. We were invited to some new friends’ home for a homemade Mexican feast, including beautiful table decorations. We had a wonderful time!

It made me realize that we can celebrate holidays in any way we choose, just as we can celebrate and experience joy every day by choosing to focus on what is good and to give thanks.

We may spend time with others during holidays, or we can be alone. Being alone is different from being lonely. If you enjoy your own company, then you are really never alone. If you believe in God, or the creator of the universe, you do not need to feel lonely—God, angels, spirits are all around you, showering you with love, peace and joy—you just have to be open to that.

Being grateful is really a personal thing because it comes from inside us; we can rejoice in a crowd, or we can express our gratitude in the quiet solitude for all the happy memories from the past, for this present moment filled with as much joy as we can create, and for the hope of a bright tomorrow–that is having The Inside Advantage–living deeply, joyfully, and successfully. Happy, Happy Holidays!

I invite you to look around my website at CWLauro.com to see what might brighten your day.

Thank you for joining me on this spiritual journey.

BLOG: Struggling with Reality

SerenityPrayer

There’s just no point in struggling with reality—with the way things are—the things that are not in our control. It’s exhausting to attempt this!

We may be disappointed in some parts of our current situations because it’s not what we expected—it’s not what we wanted. We think, “This is not what I had in mind; it’s not what I planned. I wanted things to be different. It’s just not right!”

Facing reality and accepting it, rather than struggling with what is, brings us freedom to be more at peace as we have more time to focus on what is going right—what we are grateful for. I guess this is what we mean when we say go with the flow. It’s what I call having The Inside Advantage – experiencing life deeply, joyfully, and successfully.

Who knows, maybe this is exactly the way things are supposed to be; we are at a certain place, experiencing certain things, each person in our life playing their role perfectly–all to help our souls learn lessons and become more enlightened.

The saying in the photo above (the Serenity Prayer) is in my home where I can see it every day as a reminder:  Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

I invite you to look visit my website at CWLauro.com — maybe you’ll discover something to brighten your day.

Thank you for joining me on this spiritual journey.

BLOG: Arriving at our destinations

Open Door

I read in a magazine that some people travel and never really arrive. It made me stop and think. What might it mean? We travel for different reasons, depending on who we are, where we’re going, and for what purpose. Everyone experiences life in their own way, and to each his own, right?

It made me think about how I travel and I asked myself if I actually “arrive” at the places I go. I believe the answer is Yes! I LOVE to visit new places, and while I’m traveling I try to be aware—to really BE in the moment, taking in new surroundings and using my senses to make a deep and lasting impression in my mind and heart as often as I can.

I feel uplifted just thinking about seeing and experiencing more of our planet. I think Scotland is next on my list, especially since many of my ancestors came from there. I plan to visit a little church graveyard where my great-great grandmother is buried. I expect to feel the cold, damp wind blowing on my face as I take deep breaths; I want to stand at the lake’s edge and imagine family members long ago looking out across the water and seeing the same mountains in the distance. I am part of them and in some way will feel a closer connection to relatives I never knew. My heart will be saying “Thank you!” for all their decisions that have ultimately brought me into this life, and for the gratitude I feel to be able to “arrive” here.

I guess the reason I like taking lots of photos on trips is that they let me not only SEE where I’ve been, but also to re-experience the FEELINGS I had while there. That’s what I call having The Inside Advantage – experiencing life deeply, joyfully, and successfully.

When you travel, do you really arrive?

Wishing you happy travels! Thank you for joining me on this spiritual journey. Check out my full blogs and other stuff at  CWLauro.com

BLOG: Reflecting on the only 3 things in life we can control

Reflections of Monet's Garden  Reflections in Monet’s Garden

There really are only three things that are in our direct control.  Not the weather, the color of our eyes, and certainly not other people.

It’s the last one that usually causes us problems. It may make our life easier if only others would do things the way we want, but in reality that’s not the way it works, is it?

And, we always have a choice whether or not we will agree to be controlled or manipulated by others. I guess it depends on what our souls need.

To see more reflections in Monet’s Garden in France and to find out the only three things over which we have direct control please visit my website blog at CWLauro.com

Understanding this truth means gaining The Inside Advantage.

BLOG: Not everything is as it first appears

Wine Glasses  These two wine glasses look the same, don’t they? We would tend to categorize them as the same. But they are very different! Can you guess how?

First, let’s see how they are alike:  They are the same in the way they look – pretty and clear, and both hold wine, or whatever liquid you would want to pour into them.

So how are they different and what lesson can we learn? Find out at CWLauro.com
